A Twitter wannabe?: Facebook’s doing it again

Hashtags, photos in comments, and now videos on Instagram.

I have to say, the Hashtag thing was GOING to happen. Everyone is using it and you know Facebook was going to do it. The photo posting in comments thing, after testing it out today I found myself very addicted to do just like the hashtags and the feature that you can post emoicons of how you feels.

But when you start giving Instagram the feature to make short videos, I can’t get behind that. Facebook, like it or not, is one of the most used and successful social networks to date and for Facebook to be coping another feature from Twitter is like the girl who had everything plus the perfect boyfriend (the Internet) but over time found out he was cheating on her with Twitter because not only did Twitter have a  personality but she has the boobs and butt that Facebook didn’t.

That’s how I see it.

Facebook saw that so many people are using Twitter’s Vine app and that; “maybe I can get my boyfriend back with I do the same thing!” So of right now, it is just being talked about, it has not happened YET. I do believe that this just might happen because it seems Facebook wants to be better Twitter.

BUT HERE’S SOMETHING TO THINK ABOUT, FACEBOOK: Add Gifs! Let the site/app be able to read gifs! That’s all we really want.

Twitter #Music – Desktop Version

Today, I just found out from the awesome editors at PocketNow that Twitter just came out with ere music app/site. The only thing I have to say after trying this site out is; WHAT THE FUCK, TWITTER!? I really thought, by what I was hearing and reading that it was going the something like Spotify. I am a big fan of Spotify and I have it on all my computers. As of right now, I only used the twitter desktop version and I will soon use the app as soon as I’m done with this.

Let’s start with the home screen/Popular tab.

When I first saw this I thought; Hey! This looks pretty good!  I logged it and it still stayed like this. That’s because the home screen is the popular tab and it won’t change to your personifications. I want to say that this popular tab is based off how much people talk or hashtag them but I’m not completely sure. I found it very interesting how they did this and the tabs. It kind of reminds me of a Windows phone for some reason, I don’t know why.

Moving to the Emerging tab.

This tab is about new or underground artist that Twitter calls Hidden Talent that stream their content using Twitter. I thought this tab was a bit cool because you really would find these people unless your friend sent you a link to one of their songs, you were on YouTube just fucking around and you stumbled upon them, or you were deep in the site of Myspace… Why would you be on Myspace? I don’t know, that’s my question to you. I do believe that most of these under Emerging are Indie bands/singers. I do not have a problem with that. I live Indie music but Emerging if they are very own.

Next is Suggested.

I don’t think I need to say much on this. Twitter gives you a hand full of people to listen to based off that you tweet and music you stream to it’s site. Say if I was on YouTube and I liked a song by Go Radio, they would give me people who are just like them. Same thing go under if you’re on Spotify and share a song.

This tab show you the people you following who are using this app/site and are sharing what they are listening to. Right now, as you can see, not that many people are interested in joining Twitter Music. And let me say that, now that I’ve tried it, I don’t know if I’ll be using it that much.

Last tab on the list is the Me tab.

Yes, this is my Twitter. Not only am I a Mobile Tech Nerd, I’m also an YouTube fangirl. Anyway, this can be called your profile on the site. It shows what artist on Twitter is following you. And don’t ask me why one of my favorite bands is following me. I’m not questioning it, and neither should you. That bottom row of people are the same people in the Popular tab.

Listening to music.

Now this is why I ended up not liking it. I was really okay and happy that Twitter with a music app/site that going to be like Spotify or Pandora. Mostly Spotify because I love that. BUT NO! It’s nothing like that. It’s really like Amazon and iTunes. You get to listen to a short preview and then it gives you the options to buy it on iTunes, follow the artist, share by using Spotify or Rdio, or make a tweet about it.

Although, there is a way to listen to the full songs on here and that’s by sighing up with Spotify or Rdio. Sadly, if you use Spotify would you have to upgrade your account if you’re a free Member to Premium. I’m not sure about Rdio because I don’t have a account on that site.

So that’s how I feel about Twitter’s new music shit. After my try today, I can say I will never be using this again. I don’t find any reason if you’re not a paid member of either sites they want you to log in with. If you are a paid member then I guess this is pretty good. I love the look, I just hate that you have to pay. Now, I’m going to go and try out the app, see how that’s a little different. I will do an post about the app but not tonight, sadly.
